The electrical system is more difficult to inspect and can be dangerous if you are not trained. Turn on light switches and make sure all lights work. Use an electrical power outlet tester to check the wiring. Look for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) in the kitchen, washrooms and on the exterior of the house. If it’s an older house, it may not have GFCI outlets. If the basement has not been finished, visually look at the wiring and check for signs of damage and overheating. Do not touch any of the wiring.
