Look at the basement walls and check for cracks. Some surface cracks can be normal due to settling. Look for signs of moisture. If the basement is fully finished this can be difficult. An infrared camera is ideal. Look at the finished walls and check for paint bubbling. Check the baseboard, this is an area where water collects. Also check around the windows. Check the floor for uneven areas.
